These classes are available to girls and boys from the age of 5+ and are based mainly on the Musical Theatre Syllabus available through the IDTA although some unset work is also covered to allow children to experience more varied styles. Recent classwork includes pieces from 'Annie', 'Beauty and the Beast', 'Oliver Twist', ‘Sister Act’ and 'Chicago'.
The classes cover all the essential aspects for wanna-be superstars within the Acting, Singing and Dancing sections and are ideal to help improve speech, communication, pitch, tone and physical movement as well as being invaluable for self-esteem and confidence.
All students attending regular classes will have the opportunity to take progress examinations (Stages and Medals) in the IDTA Musical Theatre Syllabus as well as having regular opportunities to perform on stage and in front of parents in our 'mini-productions' often prepared for the end of term.
Older students are able to take Commercial Vocal Coaching rather than Musical Theatre if they prefer where they will explore current music styles, practise pop and other songs, learn microphone techniques etc.
Please note: Separate dance classes (Ballet, Tap and
Modern Jazz) are considered essential for those students considering serious
full time training in the performing arts.
