The
early Rosette classes involve some basic technical steps as an introduction to
Modern and Jazz with emphasis on rhythm and relaxation. At this age the children
also have plenty of opportunity to dance to pop songs which makes the classes
very popular and fun to do.
From
Preparatory Modern Jazz and Grade 1 Theatre Craft more technical work is
covered incorporating movements such as contractions, isolations, loose leg
swings and off-balances. All the grades include free work where the students
are encouraged to move creatively, improvise and choreograph their own pieces.
Students still have the opportunity to dance to pop music which is very much
enjoyed and other musical styles and influences are also incorporated from jazz
to drumbeats!
Once a student reaches vocational levels the classes become far more demanding with a lot of strength and flexibility being essential. The syllabus used is intended to prepare students for professional auditions as Modern Jazz is considered to be one of the three core theatre dance techniques. We can offer classes up to IDTA Advanced 1 if required.
