All staff have Enhanced Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau which is updated regularly. This is commonly known as being 'police checked' meaning that they are considered to be safe to work with children.

All students taught by our teachers are covered by our Public Liability insurance policy and the teachers themselves are covered by our Emplolyee Liability insurance. Teachers are covered by our Phonographic Performance Licence (PPL) authorising the use of recorded music and are covered by the Performing Rights Society (PRS) Licences at each of our venues.

Our employees are treated fairly and within the law. They are all protected by contracts of employment and receive holiday and sick pay where entitled. Tax and National Insurance contributions are made where required. Employees aged 18+ are paid above the minimum wage and all qualified teachers are paid the going rate for the profession.

Employees aged 13-16 (shop and class assistants) are covered by work permits issued by Sunderland City Council which is a legal requirement and ensures they are well protected.
