* The time and discount figures stated are
approximately the minimum figures. If Scholars attend more classes than those
listed, the length of time and percentage discount will actually be higher but
the weekly amount payable will remain the same.
**
Junior Scholars may opt out of Musical Theatre classes if they wish, weekly cost
remains the same. Mid & Senior Scholars may not opt out.
Benefits:
§
In-depth training in the
core disciplines at heavily discounted rates making sufficient classes more
accessible and allowing committed students to make good progress. Optimises
chance of acceptance & scholarship at vocational college if that is the
chosen career.
§
Option to pay on a weekly
basis rather than half-termly (any missed weeks remain payable).
§
Progress report provided
annually (from summer 2008) for each Scholar outlining progress in class,
strengths, targets etc.
§
Scholars can attend as
many classes as they like in any technique suitable for their standard as long
as they meet the minimum requirements as outlined above e.g. Scholars can also
attend Cheerleading, Scottish, Pop Starz, more Ballet etc.
§
Certificate of completion
for each level when moving up to the next (subject to a minimum of 1 year in
the programme).
§
Holiday practice sheets
supplied to keep up during the school holidays.
§
Students may be offered extra rehearsal and performing
opportunities as and when they arise, participation wouldn’t be compulsory.
Requirements:
§
£14 joining fee, which
includes a black zip-up ‘Scholar’ sweatshirt to wear to and from classes (£18
if adult size is required). Current £21.50/week students do not need to pay the
joining fee and will receive a sweatshirt free of charge. All Scholars will be
provided with a hair ribbon (colour depending on level) to wear to all their
classes so teachers easily recognise them as serious students.
§
Graded exams,
presentation classes and Musical Theatre stages are compulsory although medals
etc are optional.
§
Scholars should attend
the minimum classes specified above, at present they may not ‘opt out’ of any
classes (except Juniors where specified). This is to create all round
performers and because most dance colleges require a high standard in all these
fields.
§
Scholars are expected to
set a good example at all classes e.g. arrive on time with correct, clean
dancewear, hair suitably styled, work hard in class, warm up before class and
stretch afterwards (from Mid Scholar level) etc.
§
Scholars must bring a
notepad and pen to all classes and be prepared to make time to practice at home
when required and during the school holidays (both within reason).
§
Mid and Senior Scholars
need to buy a strengthening band for Conditioning classes and home practice
(£4.50). We also recommend a black practice tutu skirt for anyone attending the
Senior unset Ballet Class (economy style from £14, standard style from £30).
§
Half a term’s commitment
at a time is required, Scholars may not withdraw from the programme part way
through.
